The dream of owning a vacation property appeals to many people. At the same time, a vacation home or apartment is often used only a few weeks per year. Yet owners traditionally bear the full purchase price, all ongoing costs, and the entire organizational burden on their own.
This observation led to the idea behind MYNE: Why own 100 percent of a property if you only use it for a fraction of the year?
Through its managed co-ownership model, MYNE enables customers to acquire legally registered fractional ownership in premium vacation properties. The purchase price, usage rights, and ongoing costs are shared among multiple owners, while MYNE takes care of all management and service-related responsibilities.
When Nikolaus Thomale and his team founded MYNE in 2021, their vision was clear: to make vacation property ownership simpler, more efficient, and more accessible.
Today, MYNE offers properties in nine European countries and supports owners throughout the entire customer journey—from selecting a property and completing the purchase to ongoing property management and support. The documentary highlights not only the company’s successes but also the challenges of scaling a fast-growing business in a demanding market environment.
ARD accompanies Nikolaus Thomale on trips to Mallorca, Austria, Sweden, and MYNE’s headquarters in Berlin.
The documentary reveals the many processes behind every MYNE property: selecting attractive locations, upgrading and furnishing properties, collaborating with partners and investors, and developing a service experience that allows owners to enjoy a worry-free and relaxing stay in their vacation home.
The documentary portrays an entrepreneur who has already built several companies and is now seeking to transform a traditionally conservative market with MYNE.
At the same time, it shows the realities behind growth: rising interest rates, challenges in the real estate market, international expansion, and the responsibility toward employees, investors, and customers. Viewers gain an authentic insight into both the opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship, as well as the creation of a company that is redefining ownership.
The full Money Maker documentary, “Nikolaus Thomale: Luxury Real Estate for Everyone?”, is available in the ARD Media Library and offers exclusive insights into the story of MYNE, the vision of our founder, and the people behind the company.
